Our reply:
According to the Hebrew Law of Leviticus and Deuteronomy, pork is an unclean meat. However, the Apostle Paul wrote in the Epistles that Christians are free from the ceremonial observances of the Law (such as animal sacrifices, holy days, clean and unclean meat, etc.). This does not mean that we can't observe these traditions if we choose to, but it is not required. For an in-depth study of a Christian's freedom from the Hebrew Law, see my article "Free From the Law" here: http://www.scribd.com/doc/2963137/Free-From-the-Law The Apostle Paul wrote in 1 Corinthians 10:25, "Eat anything sold in the meat market without questions of conscience." This idea of freedom from the ceremonial observance of clean and unclean meat was not just Paul's idea, but according to Mark 7:19, Jesus "declared all foods clean" for Christians to eat.
